A single issue of this general interest magazine, containing fiction and nonfiction, but with an editorial slant toward the religious in nature. This issue with a discussion on Christ raising the dead, a continuing description of Newport (Rhode Island), fiction, and two pages of short news briefs from February, 1852. This includes mention of the marriage of Jenny Lind, fires in various cities, a riot in Cleveland, the growth of the city of New Orleans, etc. GOOD+ condition. Several binding holes along the spine edge, indicating this may have been removed from a bound volume. Minor soiling, staining and toning to the covers. Scattered foxing, soiling and staining in the interior.

All paginated individually. In Latin throughout. Overall good condition. Binding is snug and tight. Covers are toned and foxed. Some darker toning and chipping along the bottom edge of the covers. Covers are brittle with age. Pages toned throughout, but free of any marks or writing. A small hand-written label on the spine numbered 10,627. This is most likely a personal library inventory system. Overall good condition. This book is from the collection of Thomas Lovejoy. Dr. Lovejoy was an influential ecologist, field biologist, and activist; former head of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, World Wildlife Fund, and advisor to the United Nations and Smithsonian Institution. He is credited with introducing the term 'biological diversity' to the mainstream environmental movement. In addition, he was a passionate collector of books on the natural world.
