Joint between upper board and free endpaper split leaving upper board a little loose, text block sound. Vol.II-Shelf wear to edges of boards with bumped corners and a little scuffing to same. Small nicks to cloth at head of spine. Small Boston University label to fixed endpaper. Joint between upper board and free endpaper starting to split but still intacts and text block is sound. Junker explored Africa from 1875 to 1886 including mapping of the Congo River and exploring the Nile sources. He also established the identity of the Welle and Ubangi. Junker received the gold medal of the Royal Geographical Society in 1887. He published 3 books of his exploration, of which this is the final one. Originally published in German. The many excellent illustrations include the people, nature, plants, native artifacts. A picture of this book is available on request.
