Volume 4 missing part covering from spine and covers detached. Internally some light foxing and dirtyish marks but generally clean and tightly bound considering age. Attractively bound in three quarter greenish black leather over marbled boards, spines lettered and decorated in gilt, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers, frontis portrait in each volume, each book about 8.5 inches tall. Very good condition with some shelf rubbing, front joint of the first volume partially cracked but secure, all text blocks sound and firm, frontis portraits lightly foxed with offsetting to the title page, pages otherwise very clean, engraved bookplate of Henry B. H. Beaufoy, F.R.S. inside each front cover, no other names or markings. Henry Benjamin Hanbury Beaufoy (1786-1851) was a British philanthropist, artist, book and coin collector, and fellow of the Royal Society. Hard Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
