Book has minor wear on the edges that is difficult to see in the scans. Book is flat signed on title page. INTRODUCTION This Alaskan Sketchbook is the condensation of many hundreds of field sketches, studio-drawn sketches, and photographs. It is a diary of sorts, a journal of my wanderings and contacts with the wildlife and people of the North. During these exciting years as an Alaskan I have seen, studied, and drawn almost every game bird, bird of prey, fish, and mammal of interior Alaska (by saying "interior" means exclusive of the coastal waters. I have not, Unfortunately, yet seen all the different species of whales- many being "endangered"-that ply Alaska's frigid coastal waters.) Also, during the spring and summer of each year, scores and scores of different species of "tourist" birds flock to Alaska to raise a family and then returning south to warmer climates each autumn. I have not yet seen or drawn all of these. Someday I hope to be able to say that I have known all of Nature's children. Although my main intent of this sketchbook was to better familiarize the viewer with Alaska's favorite treasure-its magnificent wildlife, I have also tried to package it into somewhat of an instructional booklet for those not only interested in wildlife but also interested in drawing and/or photographing it. Many of the birds and mammals have been drawn in various poses to better help portray the species to the novice artist. Suggestions for both artists and photographers, in the hopes that they may prove helpful, are offered in the "Journal" section of the Sketch-book. Also, I have added a section on Alaskans: Eskimo's, Indian's, and sourdoughs, as without these fascinating people no book on Alaska would be complete. The book you see in the images is the actual book we have for sale. When you buy this book from us, you are helping to support a small brick and mortar family owned store. We have been curating our collection for three generations and currently have over 250,000 volumes in stock. Please feel free to call for more stock. Signed by Author(s).
