All plates are mounted photographs.Collated, complete.William Augustus Fraser was a politician and author of military biographies. His father, Sir James Fraser, has served on Wellington's staff during the Battle of Waterloo. Fraser was a frequent member of the Carlton Club, and personally knew Wellington, Benjamin Disraeli, and Napoleon III, all of whom he wrote anecdotal biographies on.Prior owner's ink inscription to the half-title. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing to the leather, resulting in loss of leather to the extremities of the rear board. Discolouration to the joints. Minor bumping to the extremities. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the occasional handling mark. Half-title is discoloured. Good. book.
