This wonderful book is in good condition, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. First edition published in 1890, this specific book is a reprinted second edition published in 1894. Preface by Austin Dobson, with a dedicated page to Austin Dobson with the printed inscription as follows "as a slight acknowledgement of many kindnesses these illustrations are cordially inscribed" by Hugh Thomson. I'm actually not sure if this inscription is a pen and ink signature or a facsimile signature. However is a nice appreciation from the illustrator. A beautiful wee book that is worth preserving for future generations.

Macmillan and Co. republished the story in 1890 with illustrations by Hugh Thomson and a preface by Austin Dobson, eventually running reprints of the second edition, resulting in this seventh reprint in 1922. Beautifully bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffeone of the most famed binderies of the twentieth-century, known for their luxury bindings and as the preferred bindery that crafted the miniature books for Queen Mary's Dolls' House (1924).
