Copland partly seen at head of the title page and is contemporary with the pamphlet, ex-Libris bookplate of "Percival F. Hinton" inside front wrapper, wrappers also later with a paper label on the cover, Note* Priestley was forced to flee to America after this incident and spent the lat 10 years of his life there.

A nonconformist church, it was founded by Thomas Bentley. The new non-sectarian liturgy, known as 'The Liverpool Liturgy', was written by Philip Holland & Richard Godwin.

This is an interesting piece of Longton local history, two large leather bound manuscript books titled "Church Book of the Protestant Dissenters of the Congregational Denomination at Longton", kept between the years 1918-1937 both books are folio sized measuring 13.5 inches tall approx., bound in full leather with brass closure clasps, the first book was started in October 1818 and was continuously used to April 1928, its completely filled and has 402 numbered handwritten pages, the second book was started in April 1928 and is completely filled finishing in June 1937 and runs to 404 numbered handwritten pages, with a newspaper cutting and letter loosely inserted, the leather bindings are in solid condition but there is noticeable wear and loss to the leather, the second volume is suffering from red rot to the leather which will leave a powdery residue when handled ( I believe it can be treated to reduce this) internally contents in good condition TWO MANUSCRIPT CHURCH BOOKS KEPT BY THE PROTESTANT DISSENTERS OF LONGTON, STOKE ON TRENT CONTAINING OVER EIGHT HUNDRED HANDWRITTEN PAGES BOOKS ARE LARGE AND HEAVY ROUGHLY 5.5 KILOS PACKED overseas shipping costs will be higher than the basic standard quote.
