The book was written by Robert C. Bagar, Music Critic for the New York "World Telegram", and Program Annotator for the New York Philharmonic-Symphony Society. The Foreword was written by Dimitri Mitropoulos (1896 - 1960), who was one of the most admired conductors of the early and mid Twentieth Century. The book was published by The Four Corners Press in New York in paperback format. This is the First Edition, so identified on the verso of the title page. As well as a discography, the book contains a brief discussion of Brahm's life and music. Johann Brahms was the composer of a host of musical works of genius in symphonies, Sonata, and a variety of other genres. He is one of the world's musical immortals.
