2 volumes, 8vo, pp [6], xciii, [27], followed by unpaginated dictionary printed in double column, bound in contemporary polished calf, spine gilt ruled with double red/olive labels, lightly cracked at joints, spine ends worn and a little chipped, corners slightly worn and bumped, but a sound and very presentable set, THIRD EDITION, 'revised, corrected, and enlarged' . The first two editions of this notably important dictionary were issued in quarto, the first in two volumes, the second in a stout single volume. For this third printing, revisions, aside, Sheridan produces a more manageable two volume octavo format with the original three column page format dispensed in favour of a more user friendly two column one, whilst retaining the valuable 'Prosodial Grammar' and 'Directions to the Foreigners' at the front of volume one.
