Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: As New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. This scarce copy is bound in black cloth covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spine. This dedicated copy has been signed by the author on the title page. The scarce unclipped dust wrapper has some edge wear and one or two closed tears so best described as near fine. Most murderers are mere bunglers who are caught and punished for their first clumsy crime. Butthere are many others, far too many others, who, when caught at last, are found to have committed a long series of murders which had been shelved as unslolved An example was of course the case of Christie, who had been murdering women for nearly ten years without arousing suspicion. These are the worst of all criminals. Yet so little attention has been paid to them as a type that criminologists have not hitherto even had a word for them. In this book criminologist Grierson Dickson sets out to study the sort of individual who is not a failure at murder but - for a time at least - a success. And it has been left to Mr Dickson to classify them by adding a new word to the English language - the word Multicide. But this book goes very much more deeply into an important subject than mere classification under a new label. So many writers have studied murder from the viewpoint of its possible causes. So few have dared to tackle it from the viewpoint of possible prevention. Grierson Dickson has had many years' practical experience of investigation, mainly under the Official Secrets Acts on stories which can never be told. In this book he grapples with a problem which might at first seem too vast and too involved to attempt to solve. He reaches conclusions which are simple, but surprising - and new. He does not claim to have produced and cut-and-dried solution. but he does claim to have set up certain sign-posts towards future preventative action. Ref SS 5. Signed by Author(s).
