Ephemera. 3 leaves. 8.5x11 in. Very Good. In his speech, Alfange strongly condemns the Axis powers and calls on regular people to join the fight against them, promising a lasting and prosperous post-war peace in which dictators have all been done away with. Expresses strong anticommunist beliefs. Alfange was a legal commentator and advocate of judicial pragmatism, and here argues that free speech by ?hate-mongers, saboteurs and Axis agents? will ?destroy the Constitution.? Further calls for global aid to opponents of Axis, foreshadowing US foreign policy during the Cold War. …

Soft cover. Condición: Good. Black titled wraps 20x28cm. 48pp including b/w photos, map, documents and photostats. Wraps good, marked, interiors very good. Rare in commerce. This was also issued in French translation ("L'effort de Guerre Arabe - Documents et Temoignages"). The American Christian Palestine Committee formed in 1946 from a merger of the American Palestine Committee and the Christian Council on Palestine. It continued their work by advocating for Jewish immigration and creation of the Israeli state, disbanding in 1948. This paper argues Britain is "returning to the policy of appeasement in dealing with precisely those Arab leaders who did their utmost to id the Axis powers" (p3). Sections cover pre-WW2 links with the Axis, the Iraqi Revolt, Palestine and Transjordan, Egypt and the War, Syria and Lebanon, Haj Amin al-Husseini and the Other Emigres, and post-war appeasement. Documents are taken from British military and intelligence reports, the Mufti's radio address to American Arabs, the 1941 Fatwa against Britain, and German news. The photos highlight Arab-Axis cooperation. The map shows potential results of the Iraqi Revolt with Iraq under Axis control. With a swastika over Iraq, this shows how Germany would have controlled Iraqi and Iranian oil, with the British Empire split in two. Many of the photostats relate to the Mufti. The final page includes an Index of Arab Personalities.…

Soft cover. Condición: Good. Black titled green and white wraps 14x21cm. Printed by Imprimerie Beresniak, Paris. 94, (2)pp French text including b/w photos and documents. Label mounted on title page: "Par les 'Nations Associates'". Wraps good with loss along spine. Interiors good, tanned, with archival tape reinforcement to front hinge, and other sections separating. Scarce. This was translated by Paul Giniewski from the original English, to explain the Arab Higher Committee following its invitation to testify to the UN on the Palestine Question. The Committee was formed by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husayni, in 1936, comprising Palestinian Arab clan leaders and political parties. The British outlawed it in 1937. It relaunched during 1945-48 under the Grand Mufti's family, and was recognised by the Arab League. In 1947 it called for an end to Jewish immigration and land sales to Jews, cancellation of the British Mandate and Balfour Declaration, recognition of Arab land rights and of Palestine as a sovereign independent state. It boycotted the UN Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP) formed in May 1947 although Arab submissions were submitted privately. It cooperated with the Ad Hoc Committee on the Palestinian Question formed in October 1947, repeating its previous demands. Its rejection of the UN vote in favour of Partition in November led to rioting in Jerusalem. This paper describes the Committee as an offshoot of the Arab League, with sections on the League and Palestine, the Mufti's clique, the Mufti's meeting with Hitler, Hitler and the Iraqi Revolt, the Mufti and the Vichy French, the Mufti's appeal to the Muslims of India, the Mufti and Himmler, the Mufti's demand for the extermination of Jews, etc. Many of the photos show the Mufti's close association with the Nazis, and in Iraq.…
