Publisher's parchment over boards. front and rear with gilt medallions showing two of Bayre's sculptures, gilt spine lettering, patterned endpapers. Spine quite sunned but still easily read, board somewhat bowed (as is common in books bound in parchment). A very good copy; ery clean, tight and complete.The exhibition mentioned and the sales of this book were used to help pay for a monument to Bayre. The monument was finally complete in 1894 and was the work architect Louis Bernier, with sculptural contributions by Laurent Marqueste (based on Byre's sculptures). There is a plaque on the monument that stated it was accomplished by the French and American admirers of Antoine Louis Bayre. At the time it was the definitive monograph on his life and works.…
