Bradford. This volume contains a copy of the manuscript lettered 'Plymouth Colony Records, Deeds, &c., Vol. I. 1627-1651,' and of the 'Book of Indian Records for their Lands,' which is contained in the manuscript lettered 'Plymouth Colony Records, -Ind. Deeds, - Treasrs Records, Accts, Lists of Freemen,' which 'Book of Indian Records', with the exception of two pages, is in the handwriting of Nathaniel Morton and Samuel Sprague. The manuscript Book of Deeds, &c., which is the most ancient record of the first settlers of Plymouth, was begun by Governor Bradford, but the greater part of it is in the handwriting of Nathaniel Sowther and Nathaniel Morton. A few pages are in the handwriting of Antony Thacher and Samuel Sprague. Book of Deeds shows transactions. 'Book of Indian Records for their Lands' shows Indian Land given over to Colonists. RBR14.

Under date of June 6, 1643, the following order appears in the Record of the General Court of Plymouth:- 'It is ordered and concluded by the Court, that Mr Edward Winslow and Mr Willm Collyer shall haue full comission & authoryty, in name of the whole Court, to subscribe the articles of confederacon (now read in Court) wth the Massachusetts, Conectacutt, and New Haven, and to subscribe the same in name of the whole, and to affix thereto the comon seale of the goument.' The Acts of the Commissioners of the United Colonies of New England, now printed, being part of the New Plymouth Records, are contained in two folio manuscript volumes. It appears to have been the practice of the Commissioners at their meetings to put in writing their acts or conclusions, and to sign them. RBR14.
