David Ivry (to a U.S. FBI director) of this detailed account of the famous and controversial 1981 Israeli air raid that destroyed a nuclear reactor at Osiraq in Iraq, setting back the e…fforts of Saddam Hussein to develop nuclear weapons. As the commander of the Israeli Air Force, Gen. Ivry was a central figure in the planning and execution of the raid, codenamed Operation Opera. He was also a major source for the author in the development of this book. Gen. Ivry would later serve at the Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. This copy is inscribed by Gen. Ivry on a front endpaper to U.S, FBI director, William Sessions. The inscription reads: "To William S. Sessions from the conductor of the 'Opera,' Maj. Gen. (ret.) David Ivry." The inscription is dated May 1991. 353 pages. Minimal sign of previous use, the dust jacket has a bit of edge wear.
