There is no more excuse for doubting that barbarism has come back into our world. . . . And we must face the terrible truth that the end will not be found in Japan, or on the wide wastes of the Pacific. The end will be found in Berlin. . . . America must now unite to finish the job by beating Germany, the source of all our woe."---quoting Herbert Agar, phoned in from New York. As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage.
