Around mid-January, 1914, two amateur botanists, Jacob Landa and Georges Prudhomme, meet in Peking at the start of a journey which will take them across China to the Tibetan Marches in search of as yet unknown species of Alpine flora. At the time, Jacob Landa's decision to embark on this journey aroused the fiercest opposition from his father, who subsequently banished him from the family circle. With this in his hands, he struggles to understand why his great-uncle was so harshly treated. Uncertain of his findings, however, he presents the Journal in its entirety, leaving the reader to decide whether or not his conclusions are justified. 549 pages. Inscribed by Author(s).…
