The story of a Russian girl whose family flees the Russian revolution and comes to New York. "The tale of sixteen-year-old Masha's adjustment to America, her battle to become an artist and her gradual realization of herself as a person, is one of the most vivid and unusual books for older girls that we have read," sez the jacket blurb.
