A queste si aggiunge la prima pubblicazione della "Capita opticorum" di Eliodoro di Larissa, in una traduzione italiana, seguita dall'editio princeps greca e da una traduzione latina. L'"Optica" di Euclide, un trattato elementare sulla prospettiva, fu la prima opera greca sull'argomento. La "Catoptrica", sugli specchi, in realtà non è di Euclide ma è probabilmente opera di Teone. Riccardi (I, 391) ritiene pregevole questa edizione per il commento del Danti, che fu cosmografo alla corte di Cosimo I a Firenze. La "Capita opticorum" del matematico greco del II secolo Eliodoro è un commento e una sintesi dell'ottica di Euclide e dell'ottica di Tolomeo. Quatrième édition de cet important traité dans lequel le mathématicien Ignazio Danti (1536-1586) donne au public les deux règles de la perspective de Vignole (1507-1573), restées inédites de son vivant, publiées pour la première fois en 1583. Danti, qui avait accès à quelques feuilles du manuscrit original conservées à l'Accademia di San Luca à Rome, ne se contente pas de faire une simple transcription de Vignole : son ouvrage constitue en effet un véritable manuel à l'usage de l'enseignement artistique. Il est considéré comme l'une des premières encyclopédies des pratiques de perspective. Les gravures de cette édition sont des copies des figures des éditions précédentes, y compris le titre-frontispice : la plupart ont été réalisées sur bois, à l'exception des huit illustrations à pleine page, d'une figure à demi-page (p. 81) et du titre. Ce dernier représente le buste de Vignole, posé sur un piédestal, placé sous une colonnade vue en perspective ; le titre de l'ouvrage apparait dans une tablette au frontispice et, à la base, à l'emplacement dévolu à la dédicace (Buoncompagnoni dans l'édition de 1583, Borghese dans celle de 1611), apparait cette fois-ci une vue de la ville de Bologne.
