Paperback. Condición: New. Language: English. About The Book: Catechism of Musical Instruments (also known as Guide to Instrumentation) by Hugo Riemann is a concise and practical reference work aimed at students and musicians. It provides clear descriptions of orchestral and band instruments, including their construction, range, tonal characteristics, and role within ensembles. Written in a question-and-answer format typical of catechisms, the guide simplifies complex concepts, making it accessible for beginners while still useful for advanced learners. Riemann's systematic approach reflects his broader commitment to music education and theory. The work remains a valuable historical resource for understanding late 19th- and early 20th-century orchestration practices. About The Author: Hugo Riemann (18491919) was a prominent German musicologist and theorist whose work significantly shaped modern music theory. Renowned for his studies on harmony, rhythm, and musical form, Riemann introduced influential concepts such as functional harmony and tonal functions, which remain foundational in music analysis. He authored numerous theoretical texts and helped establish musicology as an academic discipline. Though often confused with mathematician Bernhard Riemann due to their similar names, Hugo Riemann's legacy lies entirely within music. His ideas influenced generations of scholars and continue to inform contemporary music theory and pedagogy. The Title 'Catechism of Musical Instruments: (Guide to Instrumentation) written/authored/edited by D. H. Riemann', published in the year 2025. The ISBN 9789372256994 is assigned to the Paperback version of this title. This book has total of pp. 132 (Pages). The publisher of this title is Gyan Publishing House. This Book is in English. The subject of this book is Music. Size of the book is 13.34 x 21.59 cms Vol: 132.
