Album commemorating the 1956 invasion of Cuba by revolutionaries under Fidel Castro in the yacht Granma. The album consists of individual photographs of the participants in the invasion, opening with the photographs of 27 men who were killed, labeling them martyrs. The album includes youthful photographs of Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, and Raul Castro as well as many others. An uncommon souvenir of the Cuban Revolution against the Batista government, which ultimately resulted in the establishment of a new government under Fidel Castro. Black wrappers printed in green, quite worn with edge chips and rubbed wrinkles. Photographs inside are all in nice condition, with an occasional edge chip to scattered leaves but with no image loss. Softcover. Oblong duodecimo. 41 unnumbered leaves. Black and white photographs (ilustrador).…

4to. ¾ p. In his office as president of the National Bank of Cuba, to Samuel G. Breidner of the New York real estate company Cross & Brown: "I refer to your letter of August first and regret to inform you that our Bank is not interested in real estate investments". - Following the resignation of the economist Felipe Pazos, Che Guevara served as president of the National Bank from 26 November 1959 to 23 February 1961. The unspecified offer by Cross & Brown slightly predates the US embargo that was imposed on 19 October 1960 and was further extended in February 1962. Guevara was appointed Minister of Industries in February 1961, which he remained until his departure from Cuba in 1965. - On stationery with embossed and printed letterhead "El presidente del Banco nacional de Cuba". Traces of folds and gently creased.…

277 x 202 mm. Guevara appears together with his mother Celia de la Serna y Llosa (1906-1965). Celia's politics influenced those of her famous son. Though in-person meetings like the one shown here were rare once Che had begun his revolutionary career, he wrote her frequently. His letters to her are evidence of an ongoing discussion, sometimes with disagreement, of their own interpretations of political and social ideologies, often in regard to Che's activities. According to one account, Celia survived an assassination attempt while giving a speech, and was said to have continued to speak the entire time allotted even as her bodyguards dispatched the assailants. The original photo was taken by Luis Korda and the print was signed by him at the bottom right. - Small signs of wear, otherwise in good condition.…

495 x 605 mm (image: 300 x 450 mm). In one room in Havana, sharing cigars: Che Guevara, Simone de Beauvoir, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Antonio Núñez Jiménez. Guevara had a lifelong interest in French existentialism, and after the success of the Cuban Revolution found himself able to invite Sartre and de Beauvoir to visit Havana in his new role as guerilla fighter turned diplomat. Jiménez, a local, was not a philosopher but a scientist and geologist - another occupation Guevara admired - and the first president of the Cuban Academy of Sciences. The original photo was taken by Alberto Korda, who has signed and dated the print in black felt-tip pen on the lower right. - In flawless condition.…
