Crouzon né à Paris en 1874 d'un père français et d'une mère flamande, mort à Paris en 1938 est l'un des grands neurologues français de son époque. Avant son entrée à la Faculté de Médecine de Paris, il avait déjà subi l'influence de Pierre Janet sont il allait suivre les cours en Sorbonne et avait manifesté son intérêt pour la psychologie. Ses vrais maitres furent Dieulafoy, Babinski et Pierre Marie. Il s'orientera à l'occasion de la première guerre mondiale vers la neurologie de guerre. Après la guerre Crouzon a poursuivi ses travaux sur les dystrophies héréditaires, et en particulier sur les ataxies héréditaires du cervelet, les difformités de la colonne vertébrale et les désordres rhumatismaux chroniques. Crouzon est resté à la Salpêtrière de 1919 jusqu'à sa retraite. Il est devenu président de la Société Neurologique de Paris et secrétaire de la Revue Neurologique. Il a publié beaucoup d'articles de neuropathologie et sur l'arthrite chronique des personnes âgées au long séjour de la Salpêtrière. Une chaire spéciale d'assistance médico-sociale a été créée pour lui, à laquelle il avait été nommé en 1937.
