Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Near Fine. Gilbert Sorrentino was an acclaimed American novelist, poet, literary critic and professor of literature, born in Brooklyn. He was a leading proponent of metafiction, and this book, "Splendide - Hotel" is a fitting example. Is it fiction? Is it poetry? Is it exposition? Is it belles-lettres? We find Sorrentino was inspired by not only by Rimbaud, but by William Carlos Williams - and the whole accumulation of Sorrention's experience in the social milieu of American life. Sorrentino had a keen ear for the intricacies and vagaries of American English and the patterns of speech such vagaries produced. It is a brilliant book - deeper than its thin presence would suggest. This is likely why Robert Creeley, no figure of obscurity, himself, decided to write an Afterword to the book. This is the first Printing of the Dalkey Archive Press edition, issued in 1984 (reprinting the earlier 1973 work), and, is in fact, the First Edition Thus, for its inclusion of Creeley's Afterword.
