Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. Crampton, Sean. Nothing is profane / text by John Lloyd. First edition. Calne: St. Edmund's Publications, 2000. Paperback, VG. Light shelfwear to cover corners. Binding strong. Small ownership signature to title page. 60pp., colour and b/w photographs and illustrations. Contents clean and bright. Sean Crampton (1918-1999) was an award-winning sculptor and war veteran responsible for the construction of the Fourteen Stations of the Cross for the church of St Edmunds in his home town of Calne, Wiltshire. Made in his preferred media of welded phosphor-bronze, these Stations were small in scale compared to some of Crampton's other works of a monumental nature, but they were large in their importance to the artist creating them. His faith in the Catholic church and his interest in the spiritual world were both important aspects in Crampton's life and work, which would often depict a religious event or theme. Many of these works can be found in churches throughout the UK. His career as a sculptor was distinguished. He was president of the Royal Society of British Sculptors for five years from 1966. In 1978 he was elected master of the Art Workers Guild. RightWayUp Books aims to provide accurate and detailed descriptions.
