Trade Paperback. Condición: Very Good. First Printing Stated. 67 Pages Indexed. Beautiful interior text pages. Lyn Lifshin has written more than 80 books and her poems have appeared in most poetry and literary magazines in the country. Her work has been included in virtually every major anthology of recent writing by women. She has given more than 700 readings across the country and has appeared at Dartmouth and Skidmore colleges, Cornel! University, the Shakespeare Library, Whitney Museum, and Huntington Library. Winner of numerous awards including the Jack Kerouac Award for her book Kiss The Skin Off, Lyn is the subject of the documentary film Lyn Lifshin Not Made of Glass. She has earned the name Queen of the Small Presses for her continued support. The San Francisco Review of Books describes her as frighteningly prolific, utterly intense and one of a kind. She has been praised by Robert Frost, Ken Kesey and Richard Eberhart. New York State Museum asked Lyn to put together a workshop on Writing Through the Holocaust. To prepare for this she submerged herself in films, writing everything she could which dealt with that time and as a result she ended up writing about the Holocaust for an extended time. Almost 200 of her vast work on this subject were selected for Blue Tattoo. This collection is arranged in a sequence somewhat parallel to that in which the series of events that began with the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and the anti-Semitic hostilities that followed that ultimately resulted in the massacre of six million Jews. Lyn recalls the ghetto experience, selection and deportation to the concentration camps, the inhumanity of terrors of the camps, and the exterminations. Her poems on the liberation reflect the experiences of the liberators as well as those being liberated. An finally come the memories. Cowles, Joseph - Typography and Design (ilustrador).…

Trade Paperback. Condición: Fine. First Edition. 38 Pages. An as new book with no marks or stamps. Interior pages are flawless and coloring areas have not been used. This is a humorous story explaining how a teacher became missing from school, illustrated with delightful cartoon drawings that can be colored by children and adults. This story came about when Miss Gonzalez, one of the teachers in Barbora's kindergarten class in Mountainaire, was absent. The children were very concerned about her. They began the morning as usual with a Pledge of Allegiance, and then sat in a sharing circle. One of the children asked, Where is Miss Gonzales? Is she okay? Barbora said would you like to hear a story about Miss Gonzales? They said yes. Without previous preparation Barbora began the story and she has said it told itself. After she finished there were comments of disbelief and laughter, but the children liked it and were satisfied. Barbora credits local legends of aliens landing near some of the lonely outlying areas of town as her inspiration. After she finished there were comments of disbelief and laughter, but the children liked the story and were satisfied. Later one of the students asked if the story were true and Barbora replied what do you think? The student thought for a moment and said no and Barbora replied I think you're right. The original books were printed as a graduation gift for the class. Roxanne was the model for the drawing of the little girl with the big smile and missing tooth. Hopefully, she has all her teeth by now. Joseph and Barbora Holan Cowles are a husband and wife creative team living in Albuquerque. Cowles, Joseph Robert (ilustrador).…

Trade Paperback. Condición: Very Good. First Edition First Printing Stated. 51 Pages. A pristine gift condition book. Interior text and hand drawn illustrations are flawless. In the Spanish-speaking world, storytelling, folklore, legends and myths always teach a lesson. These lessons revolve around life skills, acquiring tolerance, and understanding the difference between right and wrong. Children have learned for generations that making correct decisions will affect their entire lives. They also know the environment around them can help or hurt, so they must be aware of any danger. The most famous story known throughout the world in different variations is the story of la Llorona, a crying ghost who mysteriously appears. This ghost is mostly seen near waterways, but can also be seen in other places. The base of the story is that if a child is playing in a ditch or river, la Llorona might appear, take the child with her, and the boy or girl will never be seen again. The moral is, do not play in ditches or rivers, because a sudden rise in the flow of water can hurt you. Rosalía de Aragón brings this story to life in her Spanish/English bilingual book for children, which is part of the Cuentame un Cuento series from Event Horizon Press. This delightful and captivating story tells of three children who have a narrow escape and learn the true meaning of being careful, looking out for others, and following the right paths in life. Wonderful illustrations created by high school student Rosalinda Pacheco beautifully enhance this book children and adults will find a joyful pleasure to read. Pacheco, Rosalinda (ilustrador).…

An American of humble beginnings from rural Oregon, Carl Barks became the single most prolific, most published, most read author and most viewed artist in history. This series of pictorial books explores every aspect of his work and its ongoing global impact. Today Carl's oil paintings of scenes featuring the characters he created and wrote about are eminently collectible, selling at auction for very high prices.
