Framed and glazed. Print looks to be in very good order except for faint toning at the edge of the mount window although not examined out of the frame. Hand-coloured. Mount window 140 x 200 mm. Frame overall 255 x 315 mm. James Renwick being led to execution in the Grassmarket in 1688. Renwick was the last Covenanter to be martyred before the accession of William II secured Presbyterianism in Scotland in 1689. (Despite the accepted title of the painting, note that only one prisoner is shown.) 25.5 x 31.5 cm.

William Henry Bartlett (1809-1854) was known for his detailed steel engravings of landscapes and architectural views, often featured in travel books and publications. Engraver C. Cousen collaborated with him on illustrations for books like "Canadian Scenery.".

This part has pages 41 to 80, and an illustration by A.Hughes of 'Ophelia' (Hamlet), engraved by C.Cousen. Contains 'Love's Labour's Lost' with the exception of the introductory notice, and the first part of 'The Merry Wives of Windsor'. Condition: There is moderate fading to the edges, but internally the book is clean and unmarked. Every book is sent in a rigid cardboard posting box. Size: 38 Cm x 28 Cm.

Mainly bright and clean with heavier spotting to the first and last few pages but only the occasional spot throughout. Good. book.

Rubbed to the boards and the spine with a couple of tears in the cloth to the rear joint, and one large tear in the cloth to the front joint. Bumped to the tail of the spine with a couple of closed tears, whereas the cloth flaps to the head of the spine. Front and rear hinge starting. Internally, generally firmly bound. The front endpaper and frontispiece are disbound but present, and the gutter is visible between pages 112 and 113, 128 and 129, and 144 to 145. Heavily foxed to the frontispiece and half title, but pages are generally bright and clean otherwise, with some moderate foxing to the plates and their surrounding pages. Good. book.
