Edited by Bolton Corney, Esq. London: Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans, 1842. Dark Green leather hardcover with ornate gilt design on front, back, spine and edges (inside and outside). Marbled end papers, a personal bookplate on the inside front, gilt edges. Good to Very Good condition overall with wear to leather cover mostly on spine and edges. Joints and binding strong. Clean and unmarked with some page tanning, as pictured. A nice copy! James Thomson (1700-1748) was a Scottish poet and playwright. The Seasons is one of his best known works, which celebrates nature and its reflection of the Divine and of the interconnectedness of humanity and the natural world.

M. W. Turner.Written by James Thomson (1700-1748), a British poet and playwright, known for having written the words of 'Rule, Britannia', as well as 'The Seasons' and 'The Castle of Indolence'. This was his most influential work.With a life of the author by Patrick Mulroch.Richly illustrated with engravings by various hands.A lovely leather-bound copy of this work. In a full crushed morocco binding. Externally generally smart; rubbed to the raised bands, the head of the spine, the extremities and joints. Ownership inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound, with a little strain to the front hinge. Pages have the odd spot; endpapers and pastedowns are rather spotted. Very Good. book.
