In the family Pectinidae, almost 300 species and subspecies are treated, of which more than 200 are illustrated. Of the mainly deepwater Propeamussiidae, more than 100 species are discussed and the common ones figured. The system of the genera and subgenera is based on the modern taxonomy of the families. The holotype of Conus pusio Sowerby I, 1834, is traced in the National Museum of Wales. This specimen also represents the holotype of C. melvilli Sowerby III, 1879, which fact makes both taxa objective synonyms. Since the name C. pusio is preoccupied by Hwass, 1792, the valid name for the species is C. melvilli. The holotype is a unique specimen; although mentioned from Key West, its locality is unknown. Conus melvilli WSowerby" in Perry, 1939, from Floridy was renamed C. perryae Clench, 1942. 4 pp., 3 figs, 4.…

Cryptospira glauca Jousseaume, 1875, Marginella ventricosa G. Fischer, 1807, are often considered to represent only one species. It is proved that they are distinct, and their synonymy and distribution are discussed. Type localities for both species are here designated. 8 pp., 5 figs, 8.

Pachybathron Gaskoin, 1853, is a rare deeper water genus with a very limited distribution in the southern Caribbean. The genus was wrongly placed in the Cassidae for a long time, but shell characters indicate that the genus is more closely related to the Marginellidae, i.e. the genus Persicula. Pachybathron cypraeoides (C.B. Adams, 1845) syn. P. marginelloideum Gaskoinm 1853, was collected on the Netherlands Antilles. The colour pattern of this species is more complex than was known before. 8 pp, 6 figs, 8. …
