As southern states began to secede from the Union, Virginia's convention found itself wrestling with the complex decision of whether to join the Confederacy or remain loyal to the nation. The detailed proceedings captured in this volume offer insights into the political landscape, debates, and motivations that shaped Virginia's choice and ultimately influenced the course of the Civil War.
