Hardcover. 240 pp. Autobiographical account of hall of Fame baseball umpire John Bertrand "Jocko" Conlon (1899-1989). Jocko had a brief career with the Chicago White Sox (59 games in 1923)… before turning to umpiring. He umpired in the National League from 1941 to 1965 and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. In this lively, funny book, Jocko recounts many of his experiences and some of his more famous "discussions" with the likes of Frankie Frisch, Leo Durocher, Bill McKechnie, Walt Alston and others.
