The title blocked in dark foil on the spine, with simple ornamentation in real gold and presented in its own VG+ slipcase. The edition has been printed on a special making of T. H. Saunders 100% cotton mould-made paper, and the engravings printed from the original blocks. The title-page design incorporates a wood-engraving of a feather, which has been blocked by Alan Wood in real gold. There are a total of 61 specially commissioned wood engravings: 31 full page (6" * 8"), 28 headpieces (2" * 2"), and two for the title page. These were printed from the original blocks: the title page feather engraving overlaid with gold leaf. 172 pp, 275 * 360 mm. Housed in the publishers cloth slipcase. One of the better offerings from Gwasg Gregynog. SEE-PAYNTON is widely regarded as the leading exponent of the art of wood engraving in the UK and lauded as a 'national treasure'. The V & A, Ashmolean, National Museum of Wales and National Library of Wales all hold significant collections of his work as do innumerable private collectors.
