Der Autor ist Johann Coler, ein bekannter Vertreter der Hausväterliteratur. Dieser Kalender erschien auch im Rahmen der Colerschen Oeconomia, seinem Hausbuch. Der komplette Untertitel lautetvor d. Hauswirt, Ackerleut, Apotecker u. andere gemeine Handwercksleut, Kauffleut, Wandesleut, Weinherrn, Gertner u. alle diejenige so mit Wirtschafft umbgehenIoannes Colerus.Was ist in diesem Buch zu sehen? Jeder Monat hat etliche Seiten in denen seine besonderen Eigenschaften beschrieben werden. Insbesondere die landwirtschaftlich interessanten Eigenheiten finden Erwähnung. Die Astrologie, die ja damals noch eine richtige Wissenschaft war, spielt eine wichtige Rolle. Die Monate werden durch Kalenderblätter eingeleitet, die wichtige Feiertage, Stunde und Minute des Sonnenauf- und Untergangs angeben. Das was wir heute als Bauernregeln bezeichnen würden, ist ein weiterer wichtiger Punkt dieses alten Kalenderbuches. Es finden sich lateinische Sprüche antiker Autoren, die ins Deutsche übersetzt werden.
