First Edition. Quarto, illustrated printed wrappers, xviii, 150 pp., frontispiece, six black-and-white plates, some black and white maps and documents included, three appendices included. Corners a little bumped, cover a little worn, very light spotting and a small pen mark on top of text block; otherwise a very good copy. First… edition, inscribed and signed by co-author Mildred Coen Roebeck. An account by American pilot Oscar Hoffman Coen, written with Mildred C. Roebeck, of his experiences during World War Two. Coen joined the Royal Air Force in 1940 and soon joined RAF Squadron No. 71., which, due to being made of solely of Americans, became known as the "Eagle Squadron". In late 1941, Oscar's plane was downed by the enemy over German-occupied France. Coen tells of his journey back to England, which was fraught with many life-threatening dangers and challenges. This volume is inscribed by the author with: "To Simon, Very good wishes, Mildred C. Roebeck". Signed.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition Thus. "Family Edition", hardcover, signed by Coen and Robeck on the title page, and numbered 33/60 on the copyright page. The book has a subtle lean to the binding, bumps to the spine ends and cover corners, light rubbing to the covers, a touch of smudging to the edges of… the text block, and a previous owner's name penned to the head of the first free end page. Overall, a Very Good copy.
