Añadir al carritoCondición: Very Good. Original color-printed cerographic city map of Boston, recto plate page 100, from Rand, McNally & Co.'s Standard Atlas of the World, 1886. Detailed street-level plan covering Boston proper, Charlestown, East Boston, South Boston, Cambridge, Cambridgeport, Somerville, Brookline, and the Charles River and Dor…chester Bay waterfronts. Inset title cartouche "Map of Boston" with explanation key distinguishing freight depots from passenger depots. Numerous wharves, docks, rail lines, and grain elevators along the harbor are individually labeled, along with notable landmarks (Bunker Hill Monument, McLean Asylum, U.S. Marine Hospital, State Prison). Verso (page 99) bears an unrelated full-page wood-engraved illustration, "Stag Hunting," — a pictorial plate depicting hounds pursuing a stag through dense woodland, typical of the illustrative content interspersed among the maps in this popular general-reference atlas. This confirms the leaf's origin as an original/genuine disbound page from an 1886 edition of Rand, McNally & Co.'s Standard Atlas of the World. This map provides a detailed snapshot of Boston's rapidly industrializing waterfront in the years following the city's major land-reclamation projects. Slight age-toning and foxing are consistent with an 1886 publication date. Sawkerf slits from the sawn binding used with this atlas confirm it's disbound status. Else, map is clean and free of markings. Overall very good condition for it's age.
