Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a detailed exploration of a photographic measuring device developed to accurately measure fish. This device, a technological marvel of its time, was designed to aid the work of the International North Pacific Fisheries Commission in understanding the subtle differences between salmon races and differentiating North American from Asian stocks. The author meticulously details the device's construction and intricate workings, including its base and framework, the strobe light and power pack, the camera assembly, and the innovative automatic features. Beyond its practical applications, the book delves into the theoretical underpinnings of the photographic method, examining the complexities of parallax and perspective error in measuring three-dimensional objects. The author offers a rigorous analysis of the scientific principles behind the device's operation, providing a comprehensive understanding of its accuracy and potential for future development. The book's insights into the challenges and triumphs of measuring fish in the field shed light on the crucial role of technology in scientific advancement and offer a fascinating glimpse into the methods and innovations of the era.
