A large collection of photographs of the conductor in performance, rehearsal, social occasions, with some casual situations, spanning his career, including the final year and his last trip during which he died whilst conducting a performance of Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice in Athens. Photographs include several shots of a full auditorium at the Metropolitan Opera New York with the conductor at head of orchestra pit, may singers and other performers, as well as the social world of the New York opera, and the Cincinnati Summer Opera.

Size: 305 x 305mm. A splendid commemorative leaving present on the conductor's retirement from the Metropolitan Opera House, and not long before his sudden death in Athens, Greece.
