Idylle gab es wohl, aber die Leitwörter waren Pflicht, Leistung, Ordnung und Sauberkeit und im Osten natürlich der sozialistische Aufbau. Bloß nicht über die Vergangenheit nachdenken. Und bloß nicht auffallen. Schon gar nicht die Frauen: Im Westen sollten sie - lächelnd - dafür sorgen, dass der Gatte zufrieden ist und die Kinder sich landesüblich gut benehmen. Im Osten sollten sie das eigentlich auch, abends nach ihrer Werktätigkeit und wenn die Kinder wieder zu Hause waren. Und das, als Haushaltsarbeit noch richtig anstrengend war ohne Zentralheizung, Waschmaschine, Kühlschrank, Staubsauger und andere Segnungen der modernen Technik.
