"I was fortunate enough to succeed my father as head of the law firm, and in this capacity I have endeavored to follow his example, and to make the lawyers who have come into the office since his death feel that they are part of the office family. This book is written for our office family, It is not for sale or for public distribution" (Foreword, ix).
