Soft cover. Condición: Fine. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 35 pages. Published in 2004. Souvenir Catalog. One of the earliest and best catalogs on the photographic art of John Goodman. The first and only edition. Published in a small and limited print run as a softcover original only. There is no ISBN. The Exhibition Catalog is now rare. An austerely elegant production by John Goodman: Regular-sized volume format. Pictorial softcovers with titles on the cover, as issued. Photographs by John Goodman. Essay by Christopher Millis. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper by Meridien Printing in the United States to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Published on the occasion of three major retrospectives in Boston and New York in 2004. Presents John Goodman's "Photographs". Some of his finest and most representative black-and-white images, in one elegant volume. "He succeeds in imbuing truth and beauty, even as the subjects inescapably change and disappear" (Britta Konau). John Goodman trained with the late Minor White, and says that he would never have become a photographer, much less a good one, were it not for the great photographer's tutelage and example. An absolute "must-have" title for John Goodman collectors. This copy is very prominently and beautifully signed and inscribed in black pen-marker on the Souvenir Card that comes with it by the photographer: "Paul, Thank you for your help and the Meridien Printing connection. I am so glad this catalogue was produced. Certainly all your catalogues over the years have been an inspiration. Best, John". The recipient, Paul Berlanga, who is named, is the Chicago-based photography expert and important artist/painter. This title is now collectible. As far as we know, this is the only such signed and inscribed copy of the First Edition/First Printing available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed copy thus. Lavishly illustrated with tritone plates. One of the most brilliant American photographers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER JOHN GOODMAN TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). Signed by Author.

Trade paperback. Condición: Very good. Christopher Millis Ilustrador. Presumed First Edition, First printing. The format is approximately 11 inches by 8.5 inches. 96 pages. Illustrated front and back covers (color). Black and white drawings throughout. Inscribed by the author on the title page. The inscription reads To Mary Hoyt Gene McCarthy. This heavily illustrated work (107 drawings by Christopher Millis)is a humorous exploration of the use (and mis-use) of metaphore in the language of American politics and society at large. Eugene Joseph McCarthy (March 29, 1916 December 10, 2005) was an American politician, writer, and academic who represented Minnesota in the United States Congress for over 22 years, first in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1949 to 1959, then in the U.S. Senate from 1959 until 1971. A member of the Democratic Party, McCarthy sought the party's presidential nomination in 1968 on an antiVietnam War platform. In the 1960s he began writing poetry, and his political prominence led to interest in his work. Chris Millis is a prize-winning, bestselling writer, producer, and cartoonist. As a celebrity collaborator, Millis's credited books include The Making of a Stand-Up Guy, with comedian Charlie Murphy, and Here's the Situation, with Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, star of MTV's "Jersey Shore". Millis frequently writes and travels with actor-comedian Rob Schneider and is collaborating with Rob on several projects, including his memoir. As a cartoonist, Millis has partnered with John McPherson since 1995 on the syndicated cartoon panel "Close To Home," distributed to over 700 newspapers worldwide by Universal Press Syndicate. He has illustrated political, humor, and children's books including An American Bestiary by the late presidential candidate, U.S. Senator, and poet-statesman Eugene J. McCarthy, and the popular New England children's book, A Clam Named Sam by conservationist Lee DeVitt. Millis has published thousands of his drawings in newspapers, magazines, on greeting cards and toys. Millis began his career as an art director and sportswriter for daily newspapers in upstate New York. He holds a B.A. in Art from S.U.N.Y. Buffalo State College and a M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Goddard College, Vermont.
