The exterior shows water stains from the mid to the bottom of the front cover, spine and back cover, which also affected the interior. Wear mark also at the top of the spine. All images are visible and the text readable. Good readable/working copy.; "The collector of the Meiyintang porcelains actively sought pieces with history. The illustrious provenances recorded in this catalogue read like a 'Who is Who' of 20th-century connoisseurship in Chinese ceramics: Sir Percival David, Charles Oswald Liddell, Charles E Russell, Alfred Clark, Sir Harry Garner, Harry J. Oppenheim, H M. Knight. R.H.R. Palmer, Montague Meyer, Ww Winkworth, Vivian Bulkeley-Johnson, Edward T. Chow, TY Chao, J.M. Hu, Frederick. J. Van Slyke are only some of the famous names we encounter, we come across items that have featured in seminal exhibitions, such as London 1935 and Venice 1954, or have become reference pieces in the classic literature on the subject. Through the collector's eyes we see Chinese ceramics in a particular light and that gives every piece in the collection an added dimension. It presents this art form under a specific angle, as it highlights the quiet, refined and sophisticated aspect rather than the bold and garish side, it presents the unsurpassed craftsmanship, feeling for proportions, attention to detail, the elegance, beauty and understatement of the works from the Jingdezhen imperial kilns, and it celebrates the potters' inventiveness. The Meiyintang collection was formed with a vision, and that is what makes a collection iconic. Collectors of this calibre, who always ranked quality, beauty, rarity or just some alluring feature of an object higher than mere commercial value, have become a notable exception. The collector's personal approach assured that the Meiyintang collection is not a plain chronicle of the history of China's ceramics, but a lucid interpretation of what makes these works of art great." by Regina Krahl.
