Briefpapier-Sammlung nach Aquarellen des Meisters Qi Baishi (auch Ch'i Pai-Shih, 1863-1957), einem der bedeutendsten modernen Maler Chinas, sowie weiterer berühmter chinesischer Meister. Die insgesamt 120 Farbholzschnitte zeigen Darstellungen von Vögeln, Insekten, Pflanzen und anderen Themen. Alle Blätter sind im Stock betitelt bzw. mit einem Gedicht und jeweils mit einem roten Signaturstempel versehen. -- Mappe minimal gebräunt, 1 Holzschnitt mittig geknittert, sonst sehr schöner Zustand. // Two-volume collection of fine letter papers with color woodblock prints by Qi Baishi and other famous Chinese Masters of 20th-century painting. Curated by the Beijing Rongbaozhai Studio, similiar collections were published in 1951, then reprinted in 1953, 1955, and 1957. The color woodcuts depict flowers, insects, vegetables, animals, figurative scenes, birds, fruits, fish, landscapes, etc., most are accompanied by a brief calligraphic comment in black ink and signed with a red seal. -- Quarto. Original blue wrappers with flecks of gold, gold stitching, woodblock title labels, with gold flecks; spines delicately capped with pale blue silk. 120 color woodcut prints, five text leafs. Two volumes housed in original patterned silk brocade folding case, woodblock title label with gold flecks, bone clasps and printed label on internal lining. -- Light tanning to case (spine, edges and linings), one woodcut crinkled mid-page. A single sheet, board mounted, framed and glazed, print size 23 x 30.5 cm., frame size 31.7 x 38.3 cm., hand-colored over key block printed, nice condition, no flaws. A lovely period print, showing two exterior views of the garden; the first is to the left in an eight-sided window and shows banana plant, rock and fruiting trees with bamboo and an orange fence. The second is a half view of a rouond window showing tall bamboo and a large scholar's rock. The two women are engaged in conversation. One is seated and looks at the other. Between them is a very tall bamboo stand with a tall flower pot and a sprig of blossoms and two other vases to decorate. The women are in elaorate silk gowns of the turn of the century. * Nicely done, nicely executed. ***.
