Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good. 1st Edition. 8vo, pp xv, [1], [17]- 340, frontispiece and chess board diagrams at end, uncut in original linen backed drab boards, the spine linen very worn and faded with the paper label present but hardly legible, front free endpaper glued down to the front board, rear endpaper reinforced, internally sound and clean, FIRST EDITION; the title page is misleading for the author is actually Lorenzo Ponziani and J S Bingham the translator was actually John Smith. Ponziani's famous study of Chess first appeared in Italian in 1769, and it subsequently became a classic, this apparently the first English translation. But all this is, of course, well-known to Chess buffs, and we need only add that this is a scarce title.
