In his essay the author Wolfgang Meisenheimer looks into the fundamental principles of Chassots photographic world view and distinguishes between three layers of thought in which the work is rooted: the Euclidian orders, echoes of the modern philosophy of the lived body, and the legacy of Cubism from the beginnings of modern painting. Paucker).Bilder floraler Skulpturen und Makrofotografien leiten ein Wechselspiel von Farben und Formen ein, das, unterstützt durch die subtile Lichtführung, den ganzen Bildband durchzieht.Straßenszenen lassen menschliche Befindlichkeiten und Abgründe erahnen und deuten - wenngleich nur als Schatten kahler Bäume - auf Scheidewege hin.Was bei den Blumenstillleben erst ansatzweise als skulpturales Element zum Ausdruck kommt, wird Jahre später zum konstituierenden Merkmal unzähliger Architekturaufnahmen. Durch entsprechende Wahl des Ausschnitts und der Perspektive wird die vom Architekten konzipierte skulpturale Architektur neu interpretiert und als architektonische Skulptur zum eigenständigen Kunstwerk. Unter dem Titel "Ästhetik des Zerfalls" überrascht das letzte Kapitel mit einer Art Gegenwelt zu den glatt gestrichenen Wänden, zu den Glasflächen und zum Stahlgeflecht moderner Architektur. Das Nachspiel, als solches erscheint es, führt den Betrachter auf einen historischen Autofriedhof in der Schweiz. Hier sind es verrottende Autowracks, die den Fotografen auf der Suche nach dem Schönen noch einmal zum Verweilen auffordern. Ein Widerspruch? Keineswegs. Nur eine Frage der Perspektive, der Farben, Formen und des Lichts.
