Schonungslos offen und nicht ohne Ironie schildert er sein Überleben durch Glück und Privilegien. Der Vorsitzende des Judenrats hielt seine Hand über ihn. Chari konnte im Ghetto-Lyzeum den Schulabschluss machen. Er schloss sich der jüdischen Sonderpolizei an und hatte mehr als andere zu essen.
