Contemporary-style quarter green leather over marbled boards, gilt spine lettering ("Voyage to Newfoundland & Labrador / Chappell"). Marbled edges. Folding engraved map map of Newfoundland and the South Coast of Labrador, Shewing the Author's Track" is present. All engravings are present except for a plate titles "Entrance to St. John's Harbour, Newfoundland", a facsimile of which has been added for reference and is not original to the book. CONDITION: Good. Binding worn, with notable rubbing and loss to leather at spine/corners; boards rubbed. Interior: moderate age-toning with scattered spotting/soiling. Both hinges repaired. Folding map present with typical toning and fold wear. One plate missing, see under Description, above. Pages are clean and unmarked except for writing in ink on the dedication page and comment in pencil indicating a plate not bound in the book. Please see pictures. Light to moderate dampstaining throughout, with some stiffness to the paper from prior moisture exposure; book is dry; no visible mold and no musty odour detected. …
