He espoused a belief in the decline of civilization, allying himself with Friedrich Nietszche and Oswald Spengler. He also proclaimed an anti-Semetic stance, which came to fruition when he renounced his position in the French Embassy in London to return to Vichy France, where he collaborated with the Nazis, becoming their French ambassador to Rumania. He amazingly escaped persecution after the war, and died in Paris in 1976. ; pages untrimmed, spine sunned, sllight edge wear to lower right of front cover, nick on spine label ; else VG. Book.
