This book is an artistic salute to Belgium, recently over run and occupied by Germany in WWI. These heroic (and somewhat fictional) deeds from the past contrast unfavorably with the present excesses of the Hun. Book condition; Gold lettering on the spine cover has faded some, still legible. Elizabeth Champney was the author of a several "Romance of." volumes (the rest relating to Europe) as well as the Vassar Girls Abroad series of novels aimed at young women. This volume was co-authored with her son.
