This work reframed intersex as a natural variation on a continuous spectrum of gender and sex. Applying this philosophy, Cawadias supported Georgina Somerset to become Britain's first officially recognized intersex person to change her birth certificate. Alexander Polycleitos Cawadias (1884-1971) was a Greek physician who spent most of his career practising in London, specializing in endocrinology, metabolism, and holistic neo-Hippocratic medicine.
