Soft cover. Condición: Good. sized 3/25 x 4.75 inches, 8pp, printed wraps, minor toning, insignificant chipping at some edges. A reprinting of a letter concerning the ministry of flowers that first appeared in Harper's Young People magazine. The Woman's Christian Temperance Union Flower Mission Department, active from the late 1…9th century, was a "Department of Mercy" focused on visiting the sick, poor, and imprisoned. Members distributed flowers, literature, and necessities to jails, hospitals, and almshouses, embodying the WCTU's broader "Do Everything" policy for social reform and moral uplift. The department sought to bring comfort and Christian sympathy to marginalized or suffering individuals, often using flowers as a symbol of hope and a means of connecting with recipients. Volunteers, or "Flower Missionaries," visited institutions like hospitals, prisons, and orphanages, delivering flowers along with temperance literature and sometimes food or clothing. The present author was the National Superintendent of the Flower Mission Department. Very scarce.
