Four-panel brochure, about 8.5x7.5 inches, minor notes in blue pencil, on the case of the boxer who had been in prison for nine years for a triple homicide. Calls for funds to support his legal efforts to prove his innocence. Stapled to it is a smaller slip of paper stating that Governor Byrne of New Jersey had agreed to have his case reviewed, but cautioning that hopes had been raised before only to be dashed, so funds were still needed. Carter had once been the #1 contender for the world's middleweight boxing crown. His boxing status, combined with the clear injustice of his trial, made his case sufficiently prominent to be the subject of a Bob Dylan song and a later movie.
