Published to coincide with our exhibition this book illustrates with fifty seven, full-colour plates, all the rugs, saddle-bags and gelims in the show. It also contains many black and white illustrations as well as colour pictures evocative of the daily life of the nomads and villagers taken by David Attenborough during filming of the B.B.C. TV "Tribal Eye" programme of the same name. There are chapters on the history of the tribes, rug design influences and structure by leading English authorities. There is also a study, containing new research on many of the dyes once used by the tribes, by Professor Mark Whiting and Dr. John Harvey of the University of Bristol.

Front endsheets bear an ownership signature repeated twice, else book is entirely clean and free of markings (and quite sound), while the dj is edgeworn with an accordioned scuff to first flap. A very good copy. The weaving is done in India, China and Tibet by experienced villagers.
